Making something new from something old

Two years ago I melted down an old 18ct white gold family heirloom for a friend. The piece of jewellery was no longer worn and she wanted to make a necklace for each of her daughters. I halved the metal creating two little white gold ingots. I then made a necklace for her oldest daughters 10th birthday.

This year her youngest daughter turned 10 and I created a matching necklace using the remaining little Ingot.

It’s a beautiful way to reuse a piece of sentimental jewellery. Transforming it into something that can be worn and loved again. The sentimental value remains in the metal from the original piece, keeping the spirit of the heirloom alive for another generation.
